Halloween Trio 2014

Friday, 26 September 2014
Hi girls!

Today I'll be introducing the first Moonstone Halloween Trio! Moonstone launched at the end of October last year and the timing wasn't right to release a Halloween themed collection so I'm really happy that I'm able to do it this year.

This little trio is another Harry Potter inspired collection (because I just can't help myself). It features two jelly shades and one creme glitter.

All swatches featured in this post are from the lovely Kierra from LookWhatTheBatsDraggedIn.com. Check out her review of the trio here.

First is Deathday Party (you may remember this one from my previous post about the mixing process). This one is inspired by the Deathday party held by Nicholas de Mimsy-Porpington (aka Nearly Headless Nick). It was held in the gloomy Hogwarts dungeons to celebrate the 500th anniversary of his death.

It is a black jelly with holo silver and turquoise dots and hex, genuine silver flakes, and bright blue sparks with flashes or purple. Swatches show 3 coats.

Next is Enchanted Ceiling. This one is inspired by the enchanted ceiling of the Great Hall. At Hogwarts, it's tradition to have a huge feast on Halloween and I wanted to capture the essence of the ceiling would look like to the students as the looked up and saw the night sky dotted with hundreds of floating candles.

This is an indigo jelly with gold dots, gold, lilac and purple iridescent hex, and magenta sparks. Swatches show 3 coats.

and finally we have Grey Lady. This muted yet beautiful shade is inspired by the Ravenclaw House ghost, Rowena Ravenclaw. As a Ravenclaw myself, this is my personal favourite from the collection.

It has a light grey (work-friendly!) creme base with silver flakies to represent her silver blood that stains the robes of her murderer, the Bloody Baron. That's a bit dark isn't it? Oh well, this is a Halloween polish!

It is a light grey creme with a rainbow of iridescent glitter and shimmer, and genuine silver flakies.

The collection is on sale NOW at Moonstone Nail Polish. Individual shades are $9.50ea or you can purchase the complete set for $26 and save!

Welcome to the Moonstone Nail Polish Blog!

Sunday, 21 September 2014

Welcome to the Moonstone Nail Polish blog! This will be your one stop destination for official swatches of upcoming collections, information about releases and exclusive behind the scenes goodies!

I thought that I would start my first blog post by talking about myself; how Moonstone came about; and what I see for the future of the business.

So let me introduce myself! My name is Caitlin and I’m a 21 year old Media student from the Central Coast. I’m currently in my final year of university at UNSW. I split my time between studying, working part time waitressing and working full time behind the scenes at Moonstone Nail Polish.

Moonstone evolved from an obsession with collecting nail polish. After falling down the rabbit hole that is nail polish addiction (of which I’m sure you are familiar), I soon discovered that it was possible to create your own nail polish from scratch. And so my adventure into indie nail polish began.

The name ‘Moonstone’ comes from my other passion in life, Harry Potter. In the Harry Potter universe, Moonstone is a potion ingredient commonly used in love potions. I liked the parallels between potion making and nail polish mixing and I was also captivated by the beautiful 'glow from within' look that actual moonstones have. And so the name was born! To date, I have two collections inspired by Harry Potter and a third is due to be released very soon.

Something that I’ve had in the works for a long time know is getting ready for Moonstone to feature in it’s very first market! This is a huge milestone for Moonstone and I’m very excited about finally getting to meet my customers for the first time, face to face. More details about market dates will be announced soon so make sure you’ve like Moonstone Nail Polish on Facebook and are following us on Instagram.

Im very pleased and proud to announce that Moonstone has secured it's first international stockist! I will soon be shipping a bundle on Moonstones off to Romania for Anne at Polishinail! Check out their delivery options for worldwide delivery here.

The thing that I am most often asked is ‘but how do you make it?!’ and I know a lot of you ladies are interested in the process too. So, today I have a very special behind the scenes process photoset that also features an unreleased shade from the upcoming Halloween Trio! Say hello to Deathday Party

I'll be posting another blog post this week with swatches of the Halloween Trio so keep an eye out for that!

Thank you all again for your continued support, I have some big things in store for Moonstone and I can’t wait to share them with you!
